Toning up is a very misleading word as it is physically impossible to tone a muscle. Toning up basically means to drop body fat.
In order to do this, we highly recommend mixing weight training with some form of cardio, be it 20 minute moderate durations or even sprint based intervals. One thing to remember is that the more lean muscle you can build, the more calories you'll burn daily.
If you're training at home and want to tone up, getting in 3-4 full body circuits should take care of the dropping fat protocol.
And as always, don't forget that your diet should be dialled in pretty good, keeping it as simple as this...to drop body fat consume FEWER calories than you burn off through the day.
